If you are podcasting about your business, add it to your business card, add it to your advertising materials, publish a press release and put an announcement into your newsletter. Make it easy for your customers to get to know you and how you can help them. Podcasts can be a very effective educational tool, their are podcasts out there right now teaching people how to speak Spanish. Tell you customers all about how to use your product.

The Five-Step Plan for Creating Personal Mission Statements

Step 1: Identify Past Successes. Spend some time identifying four or five examples where you have had personal success in recent years. These successes could be at work, in your community, at home, etc. Write them down. Try to identify whether there is a common theme -- or themes -- to these examples. Write them down. Step 2: Identify Core Values. Develop a list of attributes that you believe identify who you are and what your priorities are. The list can be as long as you need. Once your list is complete, see if you can narrow your values to five or six most important values. Finally, see if you can choose the one value that is most important to you. Step 3: Identify Contributions. Make a list of the ways you could make a difference. In an ideal situation, how could you contribute best to:' the world in general your family your employer or future employers your friends your community

Step 4: Identify Goals. Spend some time thinking about your priorities
in life and the goals you have for yourself.
Make a list of your personal goals, perhaps in the short-term (up to three years)
and the long-term (beyond three years).
Step 5: Write Mission Statement. Based on the first four steps and a
better understanding of yourself, begin writing your personal mission statement.

I first read about mission statements in 7 Habits and it's good to be reminded about doing things like this, not just for yourself but your business and family as well.

On average US digital music player users carry 375 songs on their digital music players, new research reveals.

Solutions Research Group asked 1,062 US digital music users about how they use their players.

Apple is clearly the leading brand with 53 per cent of all digital music players used by the sample group. Sony and RCA tied in second place with 9 per cent share each.

Researchers found that 50 per cent of the sample group carried under 100 songs, with iPod owners hosting an average of 504 songs on their player.

There are some interesting conclusions that can be made here. Apple is definitely keeping a close eye on how people use their iPods and other music players.

Sure us geeks scoff at the ROKRs 100 song limit but it half the people only carry 100 songs then it is not an issue and the iPod shuffle is popular with only 500/1000 songs. And with podpeople carrying 500 songs on average then the iPod nano (500/1000 songs) make lots of sense. A iPod carrying 5,000/15,000 songs is more for carrying everything and the digital kitchen sink but then I know a few people with a couple hundred CDs in their collection and an iPod makes sense there.

They are doing amazing work. And it seems much different from what we see on the media.

A podcast is different than just having audio on your site. A podcast is defined as audio that a listener downloads automatically whenever you upload a new episode. There are two major parts to publishing a podcast: the file and the feed.

One of the disaster scenarios that played out with Katrina was the widespread loss of communications. Land lines and cellular links went down, leaving large areas incommunicado. That's caused me to think about my family's plans for communications in case of an emergency.

This is a good overview of the communications options available that you should get before the next disaster.

We have a set of FRS radios we got at BestBuy for three bucks(open box, discontinued) They are great but you have to remember to press before you start speaking so the connection comes together. It would be great if everyone agreed on an emergency channel say 9-11 that could be monitored.

Another thing that exemplified the unselfishness of the rescuers was this one old and worn out red and white helicopter. It looked like something that does heavy lifting for construction up on mountains. Basically, it did not look like one that was designed to carry people and conduct search and rescue.From all I can tell, it was just a privately owned helicopter that the two pilots decided they were going to make work for this. I still remember the pilot in the left seat. He just had on jeans, tennis shoes and some kind of old shirt. He was a little overweight, but you could just see the determination and purpose on his face as he brought that big helo in run after run after run. Don't misinterpret what I am describing. The military guys were doing this too, but I did not expect this from some private company or individual.It just was incredible. Absolutely incredible. There is no way the helos should have been flying in this weather. If this was just some regular mission or training flight, you can bet your kids Super Play Station that they would not have been flying. It would have been easier and probably safer to floss a shark's teeth them to have gotten these guys to stop flying.

We believe in life and nothing will stop us.

There have been failures in preparation at New Orleans. But we still help because we believe in life and we will try to save everyone.

Katrina Relief Efforts of the HSV Swift

We (HSV-2 Swift) are on our way back to Ingleside, Texas right now at 30 knots (really fast). Yesterday we delivered food and such to USS Bataan. They had sent their food into shore for disaster relief. We are going to Ingleside to pick up several tons of bottled water, parts, equipment and supplies to support the relief effort. We may then move our base of operations to Pensacola which is closer to the scene of action.

The Navy is doing an awesome job, the pointy tip does very good work.

Aisaster response is almost as good as combat to tell you how well equipment works. I think we should get a few more of these HSVs, they seem to work really well in the brown water.
